Concept of Surface engineering:

 

It is an emerging discipline developed through the application of multiple disciplines on the basis of traditional surface technology. The establishment of modern disciplines such as tribology, interface mechanics and surface mechanics, material failure and protection, metal heat treatment, welding, corrosion and protection, optoelectronics, etc. has provided a theoretical basis for promoting the development of various surface technologies and forming the development of surface engineering.

 

Surface engineering technology can be divided into three categories, namely surface modification, surface treatment, and surface coating. With the development of surface engineering technology, composite surface engineering technology and nano surface technology have emerged.

Main purpose:

 

The main purpose of surface engineering is to use various physical, chemical, or mechanical processing processes to change the surface state, chemical composition, organizational structure, or form special surface coatings of the substrate, optimize the material surface, and obtain certain properties that the original substrate surface does not possess, in order to meet the requirements of specific usage conditions for product surface performance, such as decorative aesthetics, corrosion resistance, high temperature oxidation resistance, friction reduction and wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and various surface special requirements such as light, electricity, and magnetism.

 

Surface engineering belongs to advanced manufacturing technology, and it provides important process support for innovation in manufacturing technology.
